The Role
As a Design Manager / Responsible Engineer, you will oversee all design and engineering activities related to complex, regulated projects. Your responsibilities include managing design reviews, stage gates, hazard and risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with contractual and safety standards. You will coordinate with diverse project teams, provide technical support, and champion continuous improvement initiatives. Your daily actions will encompass reviewing designs, leading meetings with clients and stakeholders, managing design queries, and ensuring deliverables meet all quality benchmarks and deadlines.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

Proven experience in civil or structural engineering design within complex, regulated environments
Extensive knowledge of design processes, safety standards, and project management practices
Expert understanding of engineering procedures, BIM, and digital collaboration tools
Professional engineering degree in a relevant discipline; recognised professional qualification desirable
Substantial experience managing detailed designs within consultancy or contractor teams
