About the Role
We are working with an established construction contractor delivering high-quality projects across London. They are looking for an experienced Design Coordinator to join their project team and play a key role in managing and coordinating the design process throughout the construction lifecycle.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Design Manager, consultants, contractors and wider project team to ensure design information is coordinated, accurate and issued to site in line with the project programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Take ownership of day-to-day design coordination throughout the project.
* Work closely with the wider project team and external consultants to keep design information moving.
* Coordinate drawings, specifications and technical information to ensure the project team are working from the latest information.
* Keep track of design deliverables and flag any issues that could impact the programme.
* Organise and attend design meetings, following up on actions and outstanding information.
* Act as a key link between the consultant team and site, ensuring information is available when required.
* Manage project information through Viewpoint, keeping trackers and registers up to date.
* Review incoming design information and coordinate responses to technical queries and design issues.
* Work with consultants to maintain the agreed information release programme.
* Support the Design Manager / Senior Design Manager with the overall design programme and consultant coordination.
* Identify potential clashes, gaps or delays in design information and help drive these through to resolution.
* Assist with reporting on design progress and provide regular updates to the project team.
* Ensure design information is properly recorded, controlled and communicated throughout the project.
About You
* Previous experience working as a Design Coordinator within the construction industry.
* Experience working on construction projects from a main contractor or similar environment.
* Strong understanding of the design coordination process and construction information flow.
* Experience coordinating architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors.
* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Confident managing multiple priorities and working to demanding project deadlines.
* Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and technical information.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across project teams.
* Proactive approach to identifying and resolving design issues.
* Ability to support a Design Manager / Senior Design Manager and take ownership of day-to-day design coordination activities.
