An excellent opportunity has become available to become a Deputy Manager of Children’s Home in an established home where the current Deputy will soon be progressing internally. This small and nurturing company is set within Slough, still with access to the excellent amenities of the local community but also close to the countryside, offering the children who live here the opportunity to take part in activities within the great outdoors.

This EBD Residential home for children offers the young people a nurturing and therapeutic environment to live. As a Deputy Manager of Children’s Home you will be supported by a highly experienced Registered Manager and Senior Management team with a wealth of experience in children’s residential homes to support your introduction into the company and ongoing progression through your role. 

This home is specifically tailored to support children and young people with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties using a Therapeutic approach. Utilising the Dan Hughes, PACE and DDP models among others. As a minimum each child will be supported with a weekly session with our on site Therapist who will work in partnership with yourself and key workers to support the young people consistently across the service. Our aim is for the young people to have a safe, caring and compassionate environment from all angles. The on site therapist also provides monthly training sessions for all staff.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within an EBD residential home for children within a supervisory role and have completed a Level 3 or 4 Residential Childcare qualification. You will receive training to ready you for the next steps of your career.

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 plus sleep ins

Supporting the Registered Manager with the day to day responsibilities of running a children’s EBD home for example:
Create a nurturing and homely environment for the children to feel safe and secure, supported and understood
Supporting the introduction, onboarding and training of new staff
Ongoing development of staff within the home to progress within
Supporting with the referral and matching processes for new children
Supporting a reflective environment where staff are able to opening discuss what's going well and what could be improved to create a better environment for the children
Supporting the RM with Ofsted visits, reg 44 visits and reg 45 reports - learning as you go
Liaising with internal and external professionals
Fostering a good relationship with social workers and family of the children
Have an excellent understanding and knowledge of safeguarding processes and policies
Sharing the on call responsibilities between yourself and the RM
Keeping a record of support and focusing on positive outcomes for the children
Working in a team and delegation of tasks to upskill and create a strong, successful team Requirements of Deputy Manager of Children’s Home:

Must have at least 1 year experience within the last 5 working in a residential childcare environment
Must hold a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification or equivalent
Must have experience with EBD and ACEs
Must have experience within a supervisory role within a residential home
Must be a driver living within a reasonable distance to the home
