Deputy Manager – Residential Children's Home

Location: Manchester
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join our residential children's home in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious leader who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance are maintained. You will play a key role in supporting and developing the staff team while creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the home.

* Lead and motivate the staff team to deliver outstanding care and support.

* Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through person-centred care planning.

* Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

* Assist with staff supervision, appraisals, recruitment, and ongoing development.

* Support safeguarding procedures and promote a culture of safety and accountability.

* Monitor care plans, risk assessments, and daily records to ensure high-quality documentation.

* Manage the home in the Registered Manager's absence.

* Build positive relationships with children, families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals.

* Contribute towards achieving positive Ofsted outcomes.

Requirements

Full UK Driving Licence.

Minimum of 2 years' leadership experience within residential childcare.

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it, is desirable).

Excellent knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

A genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

Ability to lead by example and inspire a high-performing team.
