Description:

Our client has residential Children's Home Located in Colchester and Mayland, Essex. Both Residential Childrens homes are registered to provide care and support for up to 4 young people of mixed gender. The Houses are registered to provide care for young people who are described as having Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

The post holder will be expected to behave in accordance with the values, staff code of conduct, legal requirements and policies in place at all times.

All Staff have a shared responsibility for safeguarding the children and young people in our care.

New staff undertake a comprehensive induction program.

All existing care staff have attained a minimum level 3 qualification or be working towards the qualification within 6 months of conformation of employment.

About the role:

* The Deputy Manager assists the Registered Manager in overseeing the day to day running of the home including; clear and effective procedures for monitoring and controlling the activities of the home, the financial viability of the home, any serious incident, allegations or complaints about the provision, and the quality of the provision.

* The Deputy Manager ensures young people take an active role in contributing to the running of the home and that their views and concerns are listened to and appropriately responded to.

* The Deputy Manager ensures staff engage and communicate effectively with young people, ensuring each young person's spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs are met.

* The Deputy Manager should ensure that all staff working within the home provide a consistent service to the young people resident in the home. Staff working in the home should work consistently within the framework of relevant legislation and the homes policies and procedures.

* The Deputy Manager is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day line management and supervision of care staff (Team Leaders and Care and Support Mentors) within the home.

* To have a shared responsibility for the training and development of care staff and others as required.

* To provide and oversee the required paperwork related to managing a children's home.

* The Deputy Manager regularly monitor, in line with regulations, all records kept by the home to ensure compliance with the homes policies, to identify any concerns about specific incidents and to identify patterns and trends.

* This includes all relevant policies, the statement of purpose, children's guide, individual young people's case files, supervision and training records, health and safety information including fire safety, COSHH information, financial and budgetary information, complaints, incident reports and anything else stated as required in the appropriate legislation or requested for a specific young person, subject to agreement with the placing authority.

* The Deputy Manager will facilitate inspection visits from regulatory bodies and routine regulation 44 inspections ensuring all relevant information is accessible and easily available.

* To support staff in their interactions with young people, attend and chair multi-disciplinary meetings, team meetings, house meetings, attend LAC reviews, PEP reviews and other meetings at the request of the local authority, conduct debriefs and reflective practice when necessary.

* To deputise for the Registered Manager, covering any leave or periods of time where the Registered Manager is working away from the home.

* To be the senior member of staff on a shift rota basis.

* To be an identified Link Worker/ Case Manager as appropriate for young people resident in the home.
