This is a brand-new three-bed children's home in Pevensey, supporting up to three children.

The home will primarily support children aged 8-12, although it is registered for children up to 17. Children may have experienced trauma, disrupted attachments, instability and emotional or behavioural difficulties.

The home has been designed around a trauma-informed approach, with therapists involved in the care model. The focus is on understanding the experiences behind behaviour and helping children make meaningful emotional and developmental progress.

Therapeutic assessment and development planning will help identify each child's needs and longer-term pathway. Where appropriate, the aim will be to support younger children towards a successful foster placement.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager with strong experience working with trauma and attachment difficulties to work alongside the Registered Manager and help establish and run the home.

You will help create a calm, nurturing environment and support the team to build trusting relationships with children with complex needs.

Promote a trauma-informed and child-centred culture.
Support and develop staff through induction, supervision and reflective practice.
Build positive, appropriately boundaried relationships with children.
Support children's emotional regulation, routines, education and development.
Help staff understand behaviour as communication and use appropriate responses, co-regulation and de-escalation.
Contribute to assessments, care planning and development plans.
Monitor children's progress and contribute to longer-term care planning.
Support safeguarding, risk assessments and professional recording.
Work closely with therapists, social workers, education and health professionals.
Contribute to Ofsted readiness and strong standards within the home.About You

You will ideally have:

Experience working in a residential children's home, therapeutic setting or similar.
Strong experience supporting children affected by trauma and attachment difficulties.
An understanding of how trauma and attachment can influence behaviour and emotional development.
Experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Experience leading shifts or supporting and developing staff.
Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience with care plans and risk assessments.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent relevant qualification.
A calm, emotionally regulated and reflective approach.
The ability to build warm but professional relationships with children.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.Behaviour-management-only experience is unlikely to be suitable for this role. We are looking for someone who can look beyond behaviour, understand the impact of trauma and attachment, and use relational approaches to help children make meaningful progress.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a brand-new service as a Deputy Manager from the beginning and have genuine input into its culture, team and standards.

You will work alongside therapists and receive specialist training while supporting children who have experienced trauma and disrupted attachments. The focus is on creating meaningful developmental progress and helping children achieve the most appropriate long-term outcome
