Starting salary: From £45,996 FTE + Benefits

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, Rehabilitation Engineer or Clinical Scientist. to join our East Sussex Wheelchair Service team. We are looking for an experienced Clinician to deputise for the Clinical Lead. 

The Wheelchair Service supports people in the East Sussex area who require mobility equipment to achieve and maintain their lifestyle choices. This rewarding role provides a unique opportunity to work with service users of all ages and would suit someone with experience of working in a posture and mobility service who has knowledge of manual and powered wheelchairs, and is looking to progress to the role of Clinical Lead.  This role will include some management responsibilities so experience at this level is essential.

The role:

You will use your clinical skills to assess the mobility needs of adults and children with complex needs, and to prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories.
You will deputise for and support the Clinical Lead with management of the contractual elements of the service.
You will manage the Custom seating pathway.
You will supervise junior staff and provide clinical guidance to other non-clinical colleagues in the service.
You will work with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver contractual service performance of a high quality that demonstrates a personalised approach with measured outcomes.
You will liaise with service user groups and other stakeholders, including local voluntary and statutory services, to facilitate joint working where appropriate and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.
You will provide support for internal and external training programmes, including apprenticeships, student placements etc. and contribute to the development of internal training resources.
You will undertake and document all necessary risk assessments and corresponding risk management, relating to (but not limited to) equipment provision, safeguarding, moving and handling, infection control etc.
About you:

You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational and communication skills who is keen to balance your experience of working in a customer-focused service with a complex clinical caseload and management responsibility.
Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills combined with the ability to manage a varied workload are essential.
Experience of managing key performance indicators (KPI’s), waiting lists and a budget.
Experience of working with patients with long term or deteriorating medical conditions.
You will be confident in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping and for analysis of service performance.
You must be registered with the HCPC as an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Clinical Scientist, or with IPEM / RCT as a Rehabilitation Engineer.
You must hold a full current UK driving licence for a manual transmission vehicle and be willing to drive Ross Care vehicles (vans) as necessary.
Because of your role, you will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
