The Recipe  

We’ll be looking for you to be able to lead by example and through industry expertise.  We never compromise on Legal Compliance and adherence to Transport Operator Regulations and are very proud of our Health & Safety culture, so we expect that you’ll ensure full compliance with Health and Safety and Food Safety Legislation, policies and standards, so that the site  is healthy, safe and free from accidents.

You’ll be accountable for ensuring all employees and vehicles are compliant with transport operator’s regulations to ensure continued legal vehicle operation and you’ll be named on the O-License.
 
Working within a fast-paced 24/7 distribution site you will appreciate the importance of clear, consistent communication and working in collaboration across shifts within a Warehouse & Distribution environment.  

To do this you’ll have previous experience of leading and working with cross-functional teams, running both site and group meetings to understand operational issues, strategy and planning.
You’ll effectively manage the operation to confirm that budget targets and key cost ratios are achieved and ensure all vehicles are released for maintenance and maintained in accordance with Company policy and statutory and legal requirements.

As a member of the Distribution Regional team in the South, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the strategy, identifying and managing the execution of site based CI projects, along with a contribution to improvements across the national agenda.

Essential Ingredients  

An experienced People Manager and Leader within a 24/7 distribution environment, with the ability drive cultural change and develop future talent
Certificate of Professional Competence of National Road Haulage
Strong health, safety and environment knowledge and associated legislation
Drives a continuous improvement culture across the Distribution Centre through the engagement of the teams 
Previous experience of defining and managing an operating budget
Experience of working with and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers
A working knowledge of IT systems, ideally SAP
Analytical & problem-solving skills within project management and/or change management
