Depot Manager

Nottingham | £50,000 | 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays | Monday to Friday

As Depot Manager, you’ll be walking into a busy Nottingham depot with around 25 to 30 people across the operation.

Customer orders are going out, stock is moving between sites, collections are being organised and van drivers are heading out on deliveries.

There’s plenty happening between 6am and 6pm.

As Depot Manager, you’ll be the person keeping an eye on the whole operation, bringing people together and making sure there’s structure around how the depot runs.

You’ll have supervisors and managers around you, so this isn’t about becoming the person everybody runs to.

It’s about making sure the right people are taking responsibility, knowing what’s happening across the site and stepping in when something needs your attention.

You’ll be visible on the floor.

Not because you need to get involved in every job, but because you’ll want to know your team, understand what’s happening and spot where something could work better.

People management is a big part of this Depot Manager job.

You’ll need to be comfortable managing different personalities, having the conversations that sometimes need having and giving your supervisors the support and confidence to manage their own areas properly.

Health and safety matters here too.

You don’t need NEBOSH, but you do need to be naturally health and safety conscious. As Depot Manager, if you see something that isn’t right, you won’t walk past it.

You’ll probably come from warehousing, distribution or logistics and already understand what it takes to keep an operation like this moving.

You’ll know that being a good Depot Manager isn’t about doing everything yourself.

It’s knowing what’s going on, keeping people accountable and having enough headspace to look at the whole depot rather than getting swallowed up by whatever has happened that morning.

You’ll report into an Operations Director who has come through distribution himself, so he understands the environment you’ll be working in.

He wants a Depot Manager who can take ownership of the Nottingham site and build a strong relationship with the team around them.

The depot operates between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around how your working day sits across those hours.

You’ll get £50,000 salary, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, and no regular weekend working.
