We're working with a well-respected garden centre group that's looking for a Department Supervisor to support the running of its Sundries & Gardening department. About the role
Working closely with the Department Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the Sundries & Gardening department. From supporting and motivating the team to maintaining retail standards, you'll help ensure the department is organised and delivers an excellent shopping experience. You'll also step up to manage the department whenever the manager is away.
Key responsibilities
Supporting the Department Manager with the day-to-day running of the department
Coaching and motivating the team to provide outstanding customer service
Maintaining high standards of merchandising, stock presentation, and availability
Helping deliver sales targets and departmental KPIs
Providing expert advice and guidance to customers on gardening products
Supporting stock control, promotional activity, and seasonal changes across the department
The ideal candidate
Previous supervisory experience within a retail environment
A positive, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example
A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service
Good knowledge of gardening products, tools, compost, chemicals, or related sundries is desired
Buying or stock management experience would be beneficial but isn't essential
