Delivery Director - Software Engineering

Bedfordshire - Hybrid - 2 days in Office per week (Flexible)

£180k - £220k plus Benefit

The opportunity:

Our client is reshaping the way their industry is run. They are building a modern digital platform to make their market easier to administer, more responsive to change, and more customer-centric.

As they move toward operational launch, the challenge is no longer just 'can we build the software?' but how they support the Digital Team and all of their stakeholders with coordinating all of the moving parts to release the product and make sound judgements around our priorities.

They are looking for a hands-on Delivery Director who can help them bridge the gap between delivery and real-world readiness. This is not a coordination-only role - you will be expected to actively fix problems, make decisions with the board, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and customers and raise release quality.

You'll join a small, high-impact team working closely with Engineering, Product and operational stakeholders. There is real opportunity to shape how they release, operate and assure our platform as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery: Lead and coordinate the clients Digital programme plan inputs and forecasting
Stakeholder Management: Influence and report to senior leadership, acting as the key liaison between the client and the release readiness workstreams.
Financial Oversight: Manage delivery budgets including forecasting financial requirements.
Benefits Realisation: Support the clients with ensuring the benefits of the programme are achieved through strongly encouraging effective operating model decisions.
Risk & Governance: Working closely with the stakeholders to launch readiness PMO and the board, establish robust governance frameworks to identify, track, and mitigate risks and issues across workstreams.Essential Qualifications & Experience

Experience: Typically 5+ years in programme management or digital transformation, with a proven track record in end-to-end change delivery, particularly product release management.
Methodologies: Strong command of recognised project and programme management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Qualifications: Relevant certifications such as MSP (Managing Successful Programmes), PRINCE2, APMQ, or Agile Scrum Master.
Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills to navigate complex organizational structures.
Familiarity with Service Design principles and Azure/Dynamics capabilities strongly desirable.Where and how you'll work:
