Job Title: Data Protection Admin Assistant
Location: Home-based
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (8.30am–5.00pm)
Contract Type: Permanent
About the Role
To provide administrative and operational support to the Data Protection Officer, ensuring the organisation remains compliant with data protection legislation and internal policies.
This role requires prior experience in a data protection or compliance environment, with a solid understanding of GDPR and related regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to the Data Protection Officer, including documentation, reporting, and record keeping
* Support compliance with GDPR, the UK Data Protection Act, and related legislation
* Manage and track Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), ensuring timely responses
* Maintain data breach logs and support investigations and regulatory reporting
* Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments
* Coordinate data protection training and maintain accurate training records
* Act as a first point of contact for internal data protection and privacy queries
* Support audits, policy updates, and wider compliance reporting
Required Skills
* Good understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (PECR desirable)
* Knowledge of key GDPR principles (Article 5) and lawful bases for processing (Article 6)
* Understanding of core data protection concepts including Data Controller, Data Processor, Special Category data, and Criminal Offence data
* Awareness of DSARs, data breaches, Privacy Notices, and individual rights requests
* Understanding of DPIAs and Records of Processing Activities (RoPA)
* Awareness of the ICO and its regulatory role
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
* Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
* Confident communication skills and stakeholder engagement
* Ability to handle confidential and sensitive data appropriately
