Job Title: Band 5 Data Analyst

Location: Gilford

Duration: Temporary position, 6 months initially with possibility of extension

Hours: Full Time. Mon-Fri, 37 hours per week.

Salary: £14.53 per hour.

The Data Analyst will play a key role in the provision of day to day support to the service Directorates – taking responsibility for the provision of statutory and mandatory monitoring information, providing updated information on established performance monitoring/dashboard indicators, responding to ad-hoc requests for information and supporting the operational management of services by utilising systems and analysis packages to provide activity analysis as required.

Duties include:

* Support the Information Manager and Senior Data Analyst in the provision of high quality information and analysis to assist the monitoring and measurement of key HSC targets and objectives.

* Assist with the provision of high quality, timely and accurate performance dashboard information as required, as directed by the Information Manager.

* Contribute to the development of effective and efficient information flows and the exploitation of all data sources in addressing the performance management framework.

* Assist in the development of data collection and analysis systems in new areas of performance management in order to improve the availability of information for monitoring purposes and service improvement.

* Provide (acute/community) mandatory and statutory weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual information returns to the DHSSPS and Commissioners.

* Support the compilation and response to queries on all relevant mandatory and statutory information returns to the DHSSPS and Commissioners.

* Contribute to the review and implementation of new processes and information flows to deliver efficiencies in the provision of the information service – to allow the streamlining of the provision of all statutory and mandatory information returns – centralising these within the information team to facilitate one exit point for information from the Trust.

* Provide ad-hoc information reports as required – requiring prioritisation of workload areas, negotiation on the delivery of information and the timescales, analysing it and presenting it in a meaningful relevant way.

* Manipulate data sources to yield new information.

* Contribute to identifying the strengths and limitations of existing and new data sources and systems – proposing changes to support the provision of improved information as an output.

* Provide analysis and interpretation of information – to non-specialist audiences which are easily understood, relevant and measurable – using tools such as Business Objects, Crystal reporting, MS Power BI, Qliksense, etc.

* Contribute to forecasting and extrapolation of data for trend analysis and planning purposes.

* Adhere to data collection and analysis requirements and guidelines / internal procedures and protocols.

* Use sophisticated analysis techniques and software – including GIS, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to provide accurate, relevant and meaningful information analysis to Directorates.

Essential criteria:

* Have a Degree or recognised Professional Qualification, or equivalent qualification, in a Data Science, Computer Science or Maths/Statistics field AND have 1 years’ experience in a business intelligence/data analysis role

OR

* HNC or equivalent / higher qualification in a Data Science, Computer Science or Maths/Statistics field AND 2 years’ experience in a business intelligence/data analysis role.

OR

* Have 4 years’ experience in a Data Science, Computer Science or Maths/Statistics field, including 1 years’ experience in a business intelligence/data analysis role.

* Experience of using MS Office including Advanced Excel spreadsheets.

* Experience of collating, analysing and presentation of complex Information.

* Experience in the use of Analytics / Business Intelligence tools such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Statistical Process Control (SPC) Charts, Qlik, MS Power BI, etc.

* Experience of data visualisation and dashboard reporting.

* Knowledge & experience of extract, transform & load (ETL) frameworks and data management systems.

* Proficiency in the use of SQL.

* Hold a current full UK driving licence.

* Excellent numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to apply strict attention to detail.

* Effective communication skills, to meet the needs of the post in full.

* Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to complete tasks within tight deadlines.

Desirable criteria:

* Experience/Skills in data science methodologies e.g. machine learning, automation using SQL, R, R markdown, etc.

* Evidence of continuous professional development.
