Description:
Gap personnel is seeking an experienced Customs Clearance Specialist to join our clients busy freight forwarding team in Tilbury.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience and Negotiable)
Type: Permanent, Full time

Daily Operations: As part of a team, you will handle various import clearances for key clients, ensuring prompt processing to maintain a high level of service.
Communication: Liaising with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather and provide necessary information for accurate and compliant customs clearances within HMRC’s guidelines.
Customer Guidance: Offering customers guidance on importing their goods into the UK, including advice on commodity codes, customs procedures, and general requirements for entering the UK market.
Compliance Standards: Ensuring adherence to the standards set by being part of an AEO-accredited Freight Forwarder.
Invoicing and Tax Calculation: Raising invoices, including Duty/VAT invoices. Providing manual calculations of taxes where necessary to help customers understand the costs incurred from HMRC.
Skills/Experience Required
Track Record: A minimum of two years of proven success working with a small to medium-sized freight forwarder.
Experience with CDS: Prior experience in processing and completing entries using CDS, specifically in either deep sea ocean freight clearances or European road freight clearances.
HMRC Navigation: Confidence in navigating HMRC’s online tariffs, including the UK online trade tariff and other government pages, along with a solid understanding of customs commodity codes and procedures.
Knowledge of Trade Agreements: Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (FTA), as well as knowledge of Origin and Preference.
Software Proficiency: Experience with CNS and Destin8 is essential. Familiarity with CCS-UK is beneficial but not mandatory. Current software is Multi-freight.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and a friendly personality.
Microsoft Office Competency: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Team Player: A strong and dynamic team player.
Mathematics and English: Excellent skills in Maths and English.
