Job description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our fast-growing structural engineering company, specialising in steel mezzanine flooring, to work within the purchasing and supply chain management team as a Production Controller. The main purpose of the role is to source, negotiate and purchase the supply of all products and materials required for the mezzanine projects.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years purchasing/scheduling or negiotating experience and possess excellent organisational skills. If you speak an additional European language particularly German, you will stand out from the rest. Non-negotiable skills include excellent office skills; computer literate, confident in speaking to people over the phone and the ability to multi task. You will have a flair for numeracy and the ability to think “outside the box”.
You will be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Main Duties:
To source products and materials from suppliers that are company approved
· To conduct mini tenders, etenders and negotiate better terms with supply chain in fulfilling purchases on Projects.
· To plan, produce buying schedules and proactively manage timely execution of purchases for projects,
· To provide early warning of potential long lead in periods and mitigate these through working closely with the operations team and better planning.
· To select the most cost-effective sourcing route, working with the Procurement Manager to reduce cost whilst maintaining quality and achieving delivery dates.
· To confirm delivery times, dates, driver and vehicle information 48hrs prior to delivery.
· To communicate details of site restrictions, delivery locations, contact details and means of off-loading to supply chain in advance of delivery.
· To proactively confirm next day deliveries and collections to identify delays and react accordingly.
· To resolve invoice disputes in a timely and accurate manner.
· Visit Projects and Supply Chain as requested by the Procurement Manager.
