Curriculum Lead – Fabrication & Welding

Lead the design, development, and continuous review of the Fabrication and Welding curriculum to ensure it meets the requirements of industry standards, regulatory bodies, and apprenticeship standards.

Support the tutors to create and maintain course materials, training resources, assessments, and learning plans tailored to the needs of apprentices.

Ensure that the curriculum is updated regularly to reflect emerging industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Ensure the curriculum is aligned with internal and external quality assurance requirements, including Ofsted, EPA, and awarding bodies.

Conduct regular reviews of apprenticeship delivery to assess the quality of training, learner outcomes, and adherence to curriculum standards.

Collaborate with assessors, tutors, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies for continuous enhancement.

TEAM LEADERSHIP: Lead and support a team of tutors and work-based tutors within the Fabrication and Welding department. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for staff to ensure high standards of teaching and learning. Organise regular departmental meetings to discuss curriculum developments, learner progress, and departmental performance.

APPRENTICE SUPPORT AND PROGRESS MONITORING: Maintain a caseload of apprentices as a tutor. Oversee the tracking and monitoring of apprentices’ progress throughout their programme, ensuring they meet key milestones and achieve positive outcomes. Work closely with the apprenticeship delivery team to provide additional support where necessary, ensuring apprentices receive personalised and tailored learning experiences.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, employers, and external stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and meets workforce needs. Participate in external forums, networks, and events to stay informed about the latest developments in the fabrication and welding industry.

COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING: Ensure the department is fully compliant with all regulatory and funding requirements, including those related to apprenticeships.  Produce regular reports on curriculum effectiveness, learner progress, and departmental performance for senior management
