Admin / Paralegal Assistant – Criminal Law

Headturner Search is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of one of our highly respected legal clients for an Admin / Paralegal Assistant to join their busy and supportive Criminal Law team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous Criminal Law experience who is looking to further their career within a well-established, forward-thinking law firm. You'll play a key role supporting experienced solicitors on a varied caseload while developing your own legal knowledge in a collaborative and professional environment.

The Role

As an Admin / Paralegal Assistant, you'll provide essential administrative and legal support to the Criminal Law team, helping to ensure matters progress efficiently while delivering an exceptional level of client care.

No two days are the same. You'll be working with a wide variety of criminal law matters, liaising with courts, police stations, external agencies and clients, whilst ensuring files and key deadlines are managed accurately.

Key Responsibilities

Providing day-to-day administrative and legal support to solicitors.

*

Managing electronic files using the firm's case management system.

*

Preparing legal documents, court bundles and correspondence.

*

Monitoring diaries and ensuring important deadlines are met.

*

Liaising with courts, police stations, prisons and external agencies.

*

Registering matters on the Common Platform and managing digital case information.

*

Arranging prison visits and obtaining updates on live matters.

*

Supporting accurate time recording and billing processes.

*

Maintaining organised electronic records and ensuring compliance with legal procedures.

*

Delivering a professional, compassionate and confidential service to clients.

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working in a fast-paced legal environment.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience within Criminal Law.

*

Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

*

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.

*

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

*

The ability to prioritise a busy workload and work to tight deadlines.

*

A professional, empathetic approach when dealing with vulnerable clients.

*

The ability to work independently as well as part of a supportive team.

Police Station Accreditation would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
