Crematorium Technician

£15.82 per hour (PAYE)
37 hours per week
Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting a Crematorium Technician to join Belfast City Council's Bereavement Services team on a temporary basis. This is a meaningful role supporting families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. You'll help make sure every service is carried out with dignity, care and respect.
What you'll be doing:
Receiving funerals and welcoming mourners, funeral directors and ministers with tact and compassion
Preparing the chapel for each service, assisting during services and operating music, webcasting and audio-visual equipment
Carrying out identification checks and operating cremator equipment in line with legal requirements and codes of practice
Routine cleaning, checks and minor maintenance of cremators and ancillary equipment
Handling, storing and preparing cremated remains for collection or disposal
Keeping accurate records and completing cremation paperwork
Keeping the chapel, waiting rooms and grounds clean and presentable throughout the day
What you'll need:
At least one year's workplace experience in each of the following areas:
working in a professional bereavement services environment
providing advice and support to customers in a sympathetic and sensitive manner
carrying out administrative duties, including keeping accurate records
Strong customer care and communication skills
Good work planning and a basic understanding of health and safety
Willingness to gain the Crematorium Technician Training Certificate of Proficiency (CTTS) within six months of starting
No formal qualification is needed to apply. Two or more years' experience in each area is desirable.
