About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Construction Rail Engineer (CRE) to join our team on a major rail infrastructure project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of engineering and construction activities, ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards, project specifications, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:
- Fulfil the duties of the nominated CRE in accordance with Network Rail governance and standards.
- Lead and coordinate all construction engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all works are planned, managed, and delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements.
- Review, assess, and approve construction methodologies, work package plans, engineering deliverables, and technical documentation.
- Provide engineering leadership to site teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential risks, delays, and cost impacts, implementing mitigation measures where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, relevant legislation, industry regulations, and company procedures.
- Manage engineering interfaces between disciplines including civil, track, signalling, E&P, and telecoms where applicable.
- Attend and lead engineering, planning, and client progress meetings.
- Ensure all design and construction activities are delivered in accordance with approved specifications and quality standards.
- Support project managers in programme development, resource planning, and technical decision-making.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours to ensure works are completed to the required standards.
- Manage technical queries, non-conformances, and change control processes.
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, designers, and Network Rail representatives.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and site staff, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
- Ensure accurate documentation and records are maintained throughout the project.

Requirements:
- Proven experience operating as a Construction Rail Engineer (CRE) on Network Rail infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of Network Rail standards, engineering assurance processes, and construction delivery requirements.
- Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Rail Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience delivering rail construction projects within live operational railway environments.
- Excellent understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements within the rail sector.
- Current PTS (Personal Track Safety).
- Membership of a recognised engineering institution (ICE, IET, PWI, etc.).
- Experience working on major enhancement, renewals, or infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and railway assurance processes.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership. (beneficial)
