Overhead Crane Operator / Forklift Driver
Location: Cradley Heath
Salary: £14.50 per hour
Hours: 6.00am – 2.00pm Monday – Friday / 1.30pm – 10.00pm Monday – Thursday - 2.00pm – 8.00pm Friday - rotating shift

Job Type: Temp to Perm

Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced Forklift Driver / Overhead Crane Operator to join a busy steel manufacturing and engineering environment in Dudley.

The successful candidate will have previous experience handling steel and heavy materials, along with experience operating both a forklift and overhead crane.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a permanent position following a successful temporary period.

The Role

As a Forklift Driver / Overhead Crane Operator, you will be responsible for the safe movement, loading and unloading of steel, raw materials and finished products around the site.

Duties will include:

• Operating a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently
• Operating an overhead crane to lift, move and position steel and heavy materials
• Loading and unloading steel, sheet metal and other heavy materials
• Moving raw materials and finished products around the factory
• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
• Supplying production areas with steel and materials as required
• Storing steel and materials safely within designated areas
• Using lifting equipment and attachments safely
• Carrying out daily forklift and lifting equipment checks
• Working closely with production and manufacturing teams
• Completing relevant paperwork and stock movements
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
• Following all Health & Safety procedures and company policies

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Forklift Driver, FLT Driver, Counterbalance Driver or Materials Handler
• A valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
• Previous experience operating an overhead crane
• Experience handling steel, sheet metal or other heavy materials
• Previous experience within a steel, manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or industrial environment
• Confident operating forklifts around heavy and oversized materials
• Experience loading and unloading steel and other industrial products
• Good understanding of safe lifting and material handling procedures
• Strong awareness of workplace Health & Safety
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team
