Tradewind Education is seeking enthusiastic, reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to work in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Retford.

We have a variety of opportunities available, including day-to-day, short-term and long-term cover roles, supervising students across a range of secondary subjects. You do not need to be a qualified teacher for this role, making it an ideal opportunity for aspiring teachers, graduates or individuals with experience working with young people.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise classes across a variety of secondary subjects, following lesson plans and work set by the absent teacher.
Ensure students remain on task, engaged and focused on completing the work provided.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining a positive, safe and productive learning environment.
Distribute lesson materials and provide clear instructions to students.
Respond to students' questions and offer appropriate support to help them complete their work.
Follow the school's behaviour policies, procedures and expectations at all times.
Report any concerns regarding student behaviour, progress or wellbeing to the appropriate member of staff.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and report any issues as required.
Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all students.
Build positive, professional relationships with students and staff while contributing to the smooth running of the school day.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, although candidates with transferable skills and a genuine interest in education are encouraged to apply.
Strong classroom management skills and the confidence to supervise secondary-aged students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm, patient and professional approach when managing challenging situations.
The ability to follow instructions, work independently and adapt to different classroom environments.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a classroom effectively.
A positive attitude, reliability and a flexible approach to work.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Willingness to complete the necessary pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check where required.
