Cover supervisor

We are currently recruiting confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to work across SEN and specialist schools in Bristol, supporting pupils with a range of additional learning, behavioural and communication needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is looking to gain further experience within a specialist educational environment.

As an SEN Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes and delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the usual teacher. You will support pupils to remain engaged with their learning, maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure that work is completed in line with the teacher's instructions. Depending on the setting, you may also provide additional 1:1 or small-group support to pupils who require a more individualised approach.

You may be working with pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour, communication difficulties and other complex learning needs. The successful candidate will therefore need to be confident managing behaviour, maintaining clear and consistent boundaries and adapting their approach to suit different pupils and situations. A calm, patient and resilient attitude is particularly important when working within SEN settings.

Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable, particularly within education, SEN, youth work, sports coaching or similar environments. However, we are also keen to hear from candidates with strong transferable skills who are confident leading groups and creating a positive learning environment.
