Cover Supervisor – PRU (Secondary, SEMH) – ASAP

Location: Oldham
Pay: £120–£170 Per Day
Contract Type: Temporary, With Potential To Become Permanent

About The Role

We are looking for a confident, resilient and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Oldham, supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships with young people and help create a structured, supportive environment where pupils can engage with their education.

You will oversee pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects, encouraging students to remain focused and participate in learning activities. You will also play an important role in maintaining positive behaviour, providing reassurance and supporting pupils who may face barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects.

* Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive classroom environment.

* Support secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, responding positively and professionally to behaviours that challenge.

* Encourage pupil engagement, participation and positive behaviour throughout the school day.

* Monitor student progress, engagement and behaviour, keeping records where necessary.

* Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent support.

Person Specification

* Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils is desirable, particularly within a PRU, SEMH or alternative provision setting.

* Confident managing classroom behaviour and responding calmly to challenging situations.

* Patient, resilient and adaptable, with an understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.

* Able to follow lesson plans and instructions while maintaining pupils' engagement.

* A proactive and supportive approach, with a genuine interest in helping young people succeed.

Why Join Us?

* Work within a supportive and inclusive specialist setting.

* Competitive daily pay of £120–£170.

* Temporary opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

* Gain valuable experience within a secondary PRU environment.

* Make a meaningful difference to young people with SEMH needs by helping them overcome barriers to education.

If you are a patient, resilient and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their potential, we would love to hear from you
