Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.

Court Usher/Admin Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Court Usher/Admin Assistant to work with one of our fantastic Public Sector clients in Leamington, CV32

This a 4-month temporary position initially, with good chance of extension but one in which you would be able to gain valuable exposure/experience working within the Public Sector.

If you have worked within the public sector before this would be advantageous but not essential. If you have transferable experience, then we would love to hear from you.

Duties will include the following:
" Operating Office and court equipment
" Resulting, checking accuracy and completeness against guidelines or a proforma, e.g. issuing jury payments
" Preparing rooms for hearings, tribunals, trials, meetings and clearing the court / hearing room down at the end of the day
" Providing information related to proceedings, escorting court users into and from the building, swearing oaths etc.
" Calling people into court / hearing rooms in priority order, discussing with Court Clerks and Legal Advisers and liaising with the Witness Service as necessary
" Answering face to face enquiries
" Keeping parties informed of changes eg, of courtrooms and hearing times

The Agency Worker will provide routine administrative support tasks according to well-established procedures.
Examples of work performed will include but not be restricted to:
o sorting and distributing mail
o photocopying, filing, posting or proof-reading data
o answering telephone calls and relaying messages.

Typical qualifications and experience: two GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent, NVQ Business
Administration level 1, or suitable administrative experience. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Good communication skills, both oral and written.

A successful candidate must:
" Pass an Enhanced DBS Check
" Be able to provide 3 years of referencing
" Have strong communication skills
" Have good IT skills
" Be able to remain calm under pressure
" Not be afraid of facing offenders
" Be able to work with very confidential and sensitive information
Standard hours are 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Pay rate of £11.44 per hour which is paid weekly.
