Job Title – Cook/Chef – Garden Centre

Salary - £11.95 - £12.50 per hour

Castle Employment Group are working in partnership with a garden centre located 10 minutes for the centre of York. The garden centre has a super busy café style restaurant with seating interior & exterior for up to 230 covers and is open 7 days per week. They boast a strong kitchen team covering all sections of the kitchen including bakery and deal with batch cooking, daily specials and cooking to order.

As part of the kitchen team, you will benefit from alternate weekends off, discounts across F&B and the garden centre itself. In terms of uniform all this is provided, and you will also get an allowance for the footwear

Due to retirement, we are looking for a couple of people to fill the available roles, the ideal candidates would come with prior experience working with fresh food and ideally the ability to bake fresh produce. In terms of experience, you would need to be comfortable with high volume catering sometimes up to 600 covers per day. In terms of location, you would be able to reliably commute for your shifts with weekend start times at 7.30am.

As a Cook/Chef, your responsibilities would include:

Work as part of a strong kitchen team reporting to the Head Chef and Catering Manager
Working across various sections of the kitchen including the Pass, Fryer/Griddle, Re-Gen and the Bakery
Operating kitchen equipment safely & efficiently
Maintaining a clean working environment whilst adhering to food safety & compliance
Undertake stock management procedures.
Work as and when required on functions in the evening.As a Cook/Chef we would require:

Knowledge of Food Safety, Health & Safety and COSHH
Similar work experience and fresh food background
Relevant Catering Qualifications including NVQ & Food Safety but can undertake training.
