The Role

We are recruiting for a growing systems integrator delivering automation, robotics and control system projects for major industrial customers across the North West and wider UK.

We are looking for an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in PLC controls, fault finding, maintenance and commissioning.

You don't need experience with every PLC platform, but you must have strong practical knowledge of at least one major controls system such as Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron or Schneider.

Responsibilities

* PLC software development, modification and testing

* Fault finding and troubleshooting on live production systems

* HMI and SCADA development

* Diagnosing PLC I/O, sensors, drives and instrumentation

* Electrical and control system fault finding

* FAT, site installation and commissioning

* Industrial network configuration and troubleshooting

* Upgrading and modifying existing control systems

* Root cause analysis and production optimisation

* Customer technical support

Experience Required

Ideally, you will have 5+ years' relevant industrial engineering experience, including significant experience within controls, automation, electrical maintenance or commissioning.

You should be confident working with at least one of the following:

* Siemens – STEP 7 / TIA Portal

* Rockwell / Allen-Bradley – RSLogix / Studio 5000

* Mitsubishi – GX Works

* Omron – Sysmac Studio / CX-One

* Schneider or similar industrial control platforms

Strong fault-finding ability is essential. You should be comfortable working across PLCs, HMIs, electrical control systems, drives, sensors, safety circuits, industrial networks and instrumentation.

On-Call & Package

The position includes participation in an engineering support rota, currently 1 week in every 3, with a £300 retainer paid for each on-call week.

* Up to £65,000 basic salary

* Approx. £5,200 additional annual on-call retainer

* Approx. £70,000+ annual earnings before additional call-out payments

* Additional payment for engineering work undertaken during call-outs

* Company laptop, software licences and engineering equipment provided

During on-call weeks, engineers are expected to respond to initial customer calls within 90 minutes, be available for remote support within 4 hours where required, and attend site within 24 hours where remote resolution is not possible.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer looking for a varied role combining PLC development, commissioning, troubleshooting and customer support within a growing engineering business
