We are working with a market-leading manufacturer of food processing equipment and automated cooking systems, supplying innovative solutions to food manufacturers across the UK and worldwide. The business has built an outstanding reputation for designing and manufacturing advanced processing technology, combining automation, controls engineering and robotics to deliver highly efficient production systems.

Due to continued growth across both domestic and international markets, the business is looking to recruit a Software Engineer to join its specialist controls and software team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on state-of-the-art food processing equipment, developing software solutions that control advanced cooking, cooling and robotic systems deployed globally.

This role would suit a Software Engineer with experience in PLC programming who enjoys working on bespoke machinery, automation projects and developing innovative control solutions. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical and controls engineers throughout the full project lifecycle, from development and testing through to commissioning and customer support.

Responsibilities of a Software Engineer:

Develop and maintain PLC and HMI software for bespoke food processing equipment

Program and support advanced automated cooking, cooling and robotic systems

Participate in the design, development and testing of new control systems and software solutions

Support commissioning activities both in-house and at customer sites when required

Work closely with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams

Diagnose and resolve software and control system issues

Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing products and systems

Provide technical support to customers and internal teams where required

Support international projects and installations as the business continues to grow

Skills & Qualifications of a Software Engineer:

Experience programming PLC and HMI control systems

Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs advantageous, although Allen Bradley, Siemens or Omron experience will also be considered

Familiarity with Structured Text programming

Experience with at least one high-level programming language such as C#, Java, C++, VB or Python

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Experience working within industrial automation, controls or special purpose machinery environments desirable

Good communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative engineering team

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000
