Description:

Controls Engineer

£50,000 - £60,000 + Technical Training + Days + Progression + Overtime + 6% Employer Pension + Life Assurance

Yeovil (Commutable from: Sherborne, Crewkerne, Chard, Dorchester, Taunton, Bridport, Wincanton, Ilminster)

Are you from an Electrical / Controls Engineering background looking for specialist PLC project work, backed by genuine training and progression opportunities? Do you want to step away from reactive maintenance and focus on higher-value automation improvements and new controls projects?

This is a permanent, on-site role with a long-established UK manufacturer, offering the chance to upskill quickly through external courses and support from experienced internal engineers. You'll be trusted to own projects end-to-end, with flexibility on days and plenty of overtime available when you want it.

You'll be joining a business known for designing and building a lot of its own bespoke equipment-meaning the controls work is rarely "industry standard" and will keep you technically engaged. With a stable workforce and long-term growth plans, it's the sort of environment where engineers can build real depth and become the go-to specialist.

In this role you'll deliver PLC/controls projects across a busy manufacturing site in Yeovil-developing code, improving machine performance, supporting fault-finding, and upgrading panels, networks, and data capture where needed.

This role suits a technically driven engineer who wants structured training and to become a deeper controls specialist (with future scope as the team grows, rather than a guaranteed immediate management path).

The Role:

Controls/PLC project work on a manufacturing site in Yeovil (Siemens-focused environment)
Improve PLC controls, reliability, data capture, and support maintenance with complex fault-finding
Days-based hours with flexibility (e.g., 07:00-15:30 / 07:00-12:15) with occasional requirement to cover shift hoursThe Person:

HND (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
Either a Controls Engineer already, or an advanced Electrical Engineer looking to train into controls
Comfortable juggling multiple projects in a busy engineering/manufacturing environment
Keywords: Controls Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, Industrial Engineer, PLC Engineer, PLC Programmer, I&C Engineer, C&I Engineer

Reference Number: BBBH(phone number removed)
