Are you an experienced Controls Engineer looking to work on innovative, bespoke automation projects from concept through to commissioning?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturer of special purpose automation machinery, supplying cutting-edge solutions into sectors including automotive and medical device. With a strong order book and continued investment, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team working on technically challenging projects.

The RoleAs a Controls Engineer, you'll take ownership of the electrical design and delivery of bespoke automated machinery, working alongside mechanical, software and project engineering teams throughout the full project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

Designing complete machine control systems for bespoke automation projects.
Producing electrical schematics, control panel layouts and bills of materials using EPLAN.
Selecting electrical components and ensuring compliance with relevant machine safety standards.
Supporting machine risk assessments and CE compliance.
Supervising electrical builds and supporting technicians during assembly.
Fault finding, testing and commissioning machinery both in-house and at customer sites.
Supporting machine installation, customer acceptance testing and after-sales technical support.
Contributing to the development and standardisation of future control systems.
Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.About YouWe're looking for someone who has:

A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Control Systems Engineering.
Previous experience designing electrical control systems for special purpose machinery or industrial automation.
Strong knowledge of EPLAN.
Understanding of machine safety standards, CE compliance and electrical regulations.
Experience selecting electrical components and producing manufacturing documentation.
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
A flexible approach and willingness to travel occasionally within the UK for commissioning and customer support.Desirable ExperienceExperience with any of the following would be highly beneficial:

PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell, Omron or B&R)
Robot integration (SCARA, Delta or 6-axis robots)
SISTEMA or machine risk assessments
