Control Engineer

Are you an experienced PLC Controls Engineer who is passionate about collaborative working to ensure a smooth and efficient production process?

At British Gypsum we are looking for a Controls Engineer to work in our Board Plant maintaining the SCADA control system along with plant PLC and software system interfaces, to ensure the production process is running effectively and efficiently, and to deliver relevant capital projects on time and within budget.

This Controls Engineer will be a part of our Engineering team which vital in ensuring our site runs smoothly thus delivering for our customers on time, every time.

British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we're very proud of.

What we're looking for:

An electronic or electrical engineering background from a fast-moving environment
Automation and controls system experience
Siemens knowledge would be perfect, but if you have other control system knowledge we would love to hear from you too
A passion for ongoing personal development and a willingness to learn
Team player - you'll be working collaboratively with the wider engineering team, operators and management
A continuous improvement mindset with a thirst for identifying opportunities and providing ideasWhat you will be doing:

Plan and complete effective maintenance activities for the PLC and SCADA equipment, sustaining plant reliability, quality, and most of all safety.
Work with all site teams in the proactive development of commissioning new and existing equipment
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
Identify business improvement opportunities and put forward ideas for implementation
Support our priorities and targets for sustainability and contribute to delivering improvements in our environmental impact throughout all our activities.
