Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Saint-Gobain Glass UK manufactures and distributes environmentally friendly flat glass for the commercial and residential markets in the UK & Ireland.

We're now looking for an Electrical Control Instrumentation Engineer to come and work on our plant in Eggborough.

Working hours are flexible working 39 hours per week between Mon-Friday. Potential weekend work & emergency callouts during unscheduled breakdown activities to support production.

The Control and Instrumentation Engineer is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of the production equipment to ensure minimal production down-time and a safe work environment.

You'll be responsible for the provision of a professional and effective engineering support service to the SGGUK site through technical expertise in the areas of control, instrumentation, and computer systems.

What will you be doing:

Responsible for the support to SGGUK in the control, instrumentation, and computer systems discipline.
Maintain effective working relationships with the manufacturing and warehousing operation, and external suppliers of materials, equipment and services.
Candidates should be able to install, setup and troubleshoot temperature, speed, weight, pressure, flow and thickness sensing instrumentation.
Ensure SGGUK Health and Safety policies, procedures and systems are complied with by internal and external engineering support service providers.
You'll monitor and troubleshoot controls using programmable logic controllers, and bespoke p/c's
Knowledge and Setup / loop tuning of controllers and PID loops
Maintenance and repair of industrial control systems and networksWhat you need to be successful:

Experience in troubleshooting PLC based control systems (Yokogawa / ABB / Rockwell Software and Ignition is preferred but not essential)
Experience with Analogue temperature, pressure, flow, speed and weight measurement
Experience with discrete sensors
Experience with process loop calibration and equipment
Experience with industrial control networks such as MODBUS, TCP/IP and Profibus
Experience with motor controls and VFD's
Working knowledge of major systems including HVAC, Electrical controls, Batch processes, Water cooled equipment, CCTV
Experience using electrical test equipment.Who we are:
