Description:

Contracts Manager: Water / Utilities

Manchester / North West

I’m recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor, taking responsibility for a portfolio of water infrastructure projects across Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.

This is a senior operational role with genuine ownership. You’ll be working across multiple live projects, leading the delivery teams and having responsibility for programme, commercial performance, resources, risk and client relationships.

It’s a good opportunity for someone who wants to be close enough to the projects to influence how they are delivered, while operating at Contracts Manager level rather than managing the day-to-day detail of one individual site.

You’ll be responsible for:

Overseeing multiple water and civil engineering projects

Leading and supporting Project Managers, Site Agents and operational teams

Managing programme, resources, commercial performance and project risk

Reviewing costs, forecasts and CVRs and identifying opportunities to improve performance

Working closely with the client and maintaining strong senior-level relationships

Making sure projects have the right people and resources in place

Providing leadership across operational delivery, design and SHEQ

You’ll ideally already be operating as a Contracts Manager within the water/utilities sector, although I’d also be interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered significant water infrastructure schemes and are ready for the next step.

Strong NEC knowledge, commercial awareness and the ability to manage several projects and teams at the same time will be important.

Why consider it?

Alongside a salary of up to £90,000, the package includes a company car/car allowance, pension, private medical, life assurance and 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.

More importantly, you’d be joining a contractor with a strong pipeline of secured infrastructure work and long-term framework opportunities. There is a real emphasis on developing and promoting people internally, with leadership and management training, ongoing professional development and the opportunity to build a longer-term career rather than simply moving from one project to the next.

Please apply and one of the team will be in touch
