We are recruiting a Contracts Manager to join a respected social housing group in Peterborough, overseeing the delivery of major planned maintenance, refurbishment, and capital works programmes across the housing stock. As a Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for managing contractors, overseeing contract performance, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and within budget. Managing the delivery and performance of planned maintenance, refurbishment, and capital works contracts
Overseeing contractors to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Managing contract performance, costs, programmes, variations, and commercial outcomes
Building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, consultants, residents, internal teams, and external stakeholders
Monitoring project progress through regular meetings, site visits, inspections, and performance reviews
Ensuring contracts comply with relevant legislation, health & safety requirements, building regulations, and organisational policies
Reviewing specifications, programmes, valuations, variations, and contractor performance
Producing accurate reports and management information to support effective governance and decision-making
Identifying risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate actions to ensure successful contract delivery
Driving continuous improvement and ensuring residents receive a high-quality service throughout the delivery of worksThe successful Contracts Manager will have:
Previous experience working in a Contracts Manager, Contract Manager, or senior project management position
Experience managing planned maintenance, refurbishment, capital works, or similar construction programmes
Strong knowledge of contract management, construction, procurement, and commercial processes
Experience managing contractors and monitoring contract performance
Strong understanding of health & safety, building regulations, and relevant housing legislation
Excellent financial management and reporting skills
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Experience working within social housing or a similar public-sector environment would be highly advantageous
