Description:

We are partnering with a Local Authority seeking an experienced Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to support a busy legal team on a fully remote basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer looking to work on commercially focused public sector matters with a high level of autonomy and flexibility.

The Role

You will advise on a wide range of contractual and procurement matters across multiple service areas, supporting the Authority on both day-to-day legal issues and large-scale strategic projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Advising on public procurement matters and compliance with relevant procurement legislation

* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements

* Supporting tender processes, framework agreements and commissioning projects

* Providing legal advice on subsidy control, governance and risk where required

* Assisting with major projects involving external suppliers, partnerships and service delivery arrangements

* Advising officers and stakeholders on procurement strategy and contractual risk management

* Supporting contract dispute resolution and contentious procurement matters where necessary

* Ensuring legal compliance and best practice across procurement and commercial activity

Candidate Profile

Applications are welcomed from Solicitors, Barristers or Chartered Legal Executives with experience in contracts and procurement law.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Strong knowledge of public procurement and commercial contract law

* Experience advising on local government or wider public sector matters

* Confidence drafting and negotiating complex contractual documentation

* The ability to provide commercially minded and pragmatic legal advice

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

* The ability to manage a varied workload independently in a remote setting

Experience within a Local Authority environment is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong relevant experience.
