Description:

Assistant Contract Manager / Contract Manager / Senior Contract Manager
Birmingham or London (hybrid) | Inside IR35 | 9 Months
We're recruiting Contract Managers at three levels for a public sector organisation. All roles are hybrid, with 3 days per week required in the office at either the Birmingham or London location, running to the end of March 2027, inside IR35.
Assistant Contracts Manager: up to £450 per day
Contracts Manager: up to £500 per day
Senior Contracts Manager: up to £650 per day
Across all three levels you'll support the management of a portfolio of corporate contracts across the full lifecycle, from mobilisation and transition through to exit, ensuring value for money at every stage. The work spans monitoring supplier performance and compliance, administering service credits and warranty payments, progressing change requests through governance structures, managing contract risk, and producing contract management plans and reporting for stakeholders.
The level determines how much you own versus support:
Assistant Contracts Manager
Reporting to the Contract Manager, you'll support the wider team in administering corporate contracts. You'll help draft documents to progress change requests through governance, compile documents for compliance checks, contribute to contract management plans, review supplier performance against KPIs, and assist in calculating service credits and warranty payments, always working to achieve value for money.
Contracts Manager
You'll own a varied portfolio of corporate contracts end to end, monitoring supplier performance and compliance (including performance plans and Early Warnings), leading change request processes, negotiating commercial agreements with third parties, and managing formal disputes and risk.
Senior Contracts Manager
You'll do the same at programme level within a major public sector delivery programme, with a stronger focus on strategic objectives, commercial analysis for senior audiences, cost planning, and exposure to major infrastructure or capital delivery.
What you'll need
- Experience in a commercial, contract or commercial management environment (at the appropriate level for the role)
- Contract management and administration across a portfolio of corporate contracts
- Monitoring supplier performance and compliance, including KPIs and performance measures
- Contributing to or leading contract change request processes through governance structures
- Stakeholder and supplier relationship management
- Risk and value management, and an understanding of different forms of contract and risk allocation
- Negotiation, dispute resolution and cost control
- Procurement, including Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 (UCR) or Public Contracts Regulations (PCR)
- Supply chain management
- Knowledge of working with or for publicly funded bodies, including central government
- Software including Excel, SAP, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Project and CEMAR
Additionally, for the Contracts Manager and Senior Contracts Manager
- Full ownership of contracts across a varied portfolio
- Negotiating bespoke third party commercial agreements
Additionally, for the Senior Contracts Manager
- NEC forms of contract administration
- Supplier financial health monitoring
- Strategy development and estimating or cost planning
- Experience on major infrastructure or capital delivery programmes
