Contract Manager Vacancies - Renewable Energy, Carbon Capture & Hydrogen Initiatives
Step into the future with the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC), a pioneering non-profit organisation that stands at the nexus of the UK's energy transformation. Established in 2014, LCCC has been a beacon of innovation, driving the UK's commitment to a sustainable, low-carbon future. We are at the forefront of the UK Government's ambitious journey towards Net Zero 2050, championing ground-breaking initiatives like the Contracts for Difference (CfD) and spearheading the development of the nascent Hydrogen market and Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) for hard to abate industry. As we venture forward, we invite you to be a part of this transformative journey, where every role is not just a job but a commitment to a brighter, greener future.
LCCC is the appointed counterparty to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) existing scheme whereby low-carbon generation technologies such as wind, solar and biomass conversion are supported in order to compete with conventional fossil fuel generation. We now have circa 250 CfD’s and growing in number fast – once all operational, they will generate 30 GW of green energy or around 30-40% of the total UK output. These schemes will deliver 20% of all the emission reductions required between now and 2037.
But the remit of LCCC is growing! Alongside further allocation rounds coming for the CfD schemes, we will also be the counterparty to new Hydrogen and CCUS schemes. Part of our role with these New Schemes is advising DESNZ on both strategy and implementation using our years of experience with the CfD.
Role Overview:
As a Contract Manager (CM) at LCCC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of renewable energy, carbon capture, and hydrogen initiatives in the UK. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a role that offers more than just tasks—it offers a chance to make a tangible difference. Dive deep into the intricacies of contract management, stakeholder relationships, and strategic advisory, all while supporting our Lead Contract Managers in driving key initiatives. You will be responsible for managing the significant subsidies provided to the Generators. Whether through the day-to-day relationship and contract management of them or supporting Lead Contract Managers with the more complex contractual, technical, and relationship issues. Relationship management is a significant part of our role. Interaction with Generators/Emitters is frequent during the contract lifecycle (20+ years), and particularly during the initial 4-5 years, when projects are going through the development and construction phases. Site visits to each project are also undertaken at least once a year and provide a unique opportunity to gain exposure to these leading-edge technologies and meet the people you are working with.
Given that LCCC is a not-for-profit organisation, this is not a typical contract or commercial management role. Performance is not measured against a bottom line, but instead by two guiding principles: to maintain investors’ confidence in existing and new schemes and to minimise cost to consumers.
Contract Managers also lead on supporting the wider Scheme Delivery Team and various LCCC initiatives, and regularly interface with both internal (Legal, Data & Analytics, Finance, etc.) and external (DESNZ, Ofgem, EMRS, etc.) stakeholders.
We have positions available at various levels (Assistant CM, CM, Senior CM, and Principal CM) depending on your skills, previous experience, and qualifications.

* Scheme Development & Delivery: Be at the helm of developing and delivering scheme contracts, from renewable business models to hydrogen initiatives, ensuring they align with the broader vision of the UK government.

About Low Carbon Contracts Company:
The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) exists to help decarbonise the generation of electricity and make it more affordable for the future. Our work is central to the delivery of the Government’s objective to achieve Net Zero target by 2050.
LCCC’s main responsibility, amongst many, is managing the Contracts for Difference (CfDs) scheme which are agreements LCCC has made with renewable generators. These agreements are private law contracts to provide investors with confidence when investing in low carbon technology. CfDs are also designed to help and manage price increases for consumers, when electricity prices are high. See here for more information on how CfDs work: LCCC CfD Video on Vimeo.
LCCC’s other responsibilities include management of money flows across energy suppliers to fund the CfD portfolio, settlement of the capacity market and develop new schemes. Find out more about all that we do by visiting our main page.
