Contracts Manager | Groundworks
Cambridge and Bedfordshire, UK
We are supporting a well-established construction contractor with a growing portfolio of work across Cambridge and Bedfordshire. The business is looking for a Contracts Manager to oversee around five to six projects, with a combined value of approximately £30 million.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take responsibility across multiple live jobs, lead and support project teams, oversee labour, manage client relationships, and keep programmes on track. A groundworks background would be ideal, though the business is also open to candidates with a strong frames background.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you’ll oversee projects from a broader operational perspective, working closely with the teams delivering each job and keeping a clear view of performance across the portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing five to six projects, primarily across Cambridge and Bedfordshire
*
Supporting and managing project teams and labour across the jobs
*
Maintaining strong relationships with clients and addressing project requirements
*
Overseeing programmes and helping teams keep work on schedule
*
Using Asta to review and manage project programmes
*
Monitoring progress and helping resolve issues that could affect delivery
*
Reporting into the company’s directors
The role would also suit a strong Project Manager who is ready to take the next step into a Contracts Manager position and broaden their responsibility across multiple projects.
What We’re Looking For
*
Experience as a Contracts Manager within construction, ideally in groundworks
*
Frames experience will also be considered
*
Strong project management capability and confidence overseeing several jobs
*
Experience leading project teams and managing labour
*
Good client management and communication skills
*
Strong understanding of programming, with the ability to use Asta
*
Ready to take ownership of delivery across a portfolio of projects
