The role:

The role will be part of the Capital Projects Management Team who are accountable for implementing the buildings and infrastructure programme required to support Agratas' ambitious plans. This will be a Construction Site based role in Bridgwater, Somerset.

As Construction Site Safety Manager, you will play a key role in the care and protection of employees and contractors whilst on site. This position revolves around ensuring safe work and environmental conditions at the Agratas' Battery Facility construction site in Bridgwater and other UK construction projects as required.

In this role you will work with the Head of Construction, the Project Management team and appointed contractors.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop a site safety strategy and implement safety management systems.
Create and implement safety processes and procedures to be followed by delivery team.
Promote a safety first culture within the business.
Coordinate risk assessments, define responsibilities, identify high risk activities and establish communication plans, safety routines, safety standards and inspections.
Facilitate all forms of risk assessment. Review and approve RAMS for site works.
Maintain appropriate awareness, knowledge and preparedness to create a culture that prioritises a safe working environment.
Identify gaps where present and ensure that an action plan is developed and implemented.
Review and monitor contractors safety procedures to ensure that all workers receive proper safety training and are aware of safety protocols.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards.
Contribute to HAZID and HAZOP studies.
Develop and implement emergency response plans.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to prevent recurrence, ensuring that all associated records are maintained and reported to senior management.
Ensure proper use of PPE by all personnel.
Work closely with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain safety standards.
Undertake regular H&S audits and quality assurance.
Ensure the company meets its obligations under the COMAH, HSE and CDM Regulations.
Maintain knowledge and implement any new legislation relating to health and safety.
Conduct occupational health and safety assessments and implement improvements.
Conduct Toolbox talks and lead safety awareness presentations to the wider team and business.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Essential Experience

Health & Safety Qualifications and Certification (IOSH/NEBOSH)
CSCS Site Card.
Strong Communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively, influence and inspire others.
Good organisational and record keeping abilities with the ability to maintain accurate records of all safety related activities.
Good working knowledge of British Health & Safety legislation.
Minimum 5+ years' experience within a similar management role with knowledge of the following:
Risk Assessments
Conducting safety inspections
Emergency preparedness
Accident investigations and reporting
Safety communication
Health & well-being best practice
Environmental compliance.

Desired Experience

First Aid training.
Background managing people, including direct reports and external consultants.
Working knowledge of COMAH Regulations.
Experience implementing Design for Safety.
Fire Prevention and Risk Management.
