About the Opportunity:

This role is embedded directly within a landmark, multi-billion-pound UK nuclear power new-build project (Hinkley Point C). Generating 3.26GW of secure, low-carbon electricity, this mega-project represents one of the largest clean energy infrastructure developments in Europe.

As the Construction Delivery Lead, you will manage, mentor, and develop a team of Construction Delivery Managers (CDMs). You will take leadership over site construction activities, contractor partner interfaces, and short-term operational planning, ensuring all works are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict accordance with the overall delivery schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

Line Management: Provide direct line management, professional guidance, and training support to a team of Construction Delivery Managers across allocated work areas.

Operational Execution: Act as a Construction Delivery Manager for specific high-complexity scopes when nominated by senior site leadership.

Health, Safety & Governance

HSE Oversight: Oversee all Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects of construction activities within allocated zones in full compliance with the Construction Phase Plan.

Assurance Inspections: Lead and record formal safety and assurance inspections (using site tools such as INSIGHT) to support overall project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

CDM Regulations: Ensure full operational compliance with Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations across all delivery scopes.

Site Planning & Contractor Management

Meeting Governance: Lead daily and weekly site cadence meetings, ensuring operational drumbeats (Plan of the Day / PLODs and Plan of the Week / PLOWs) are embedded and maintained.

Short-Term Planning: Conduct weekly planning sessions with contractor partners to align short-term site activities with the master programme, recording outputs and escalating critical blockers.

Logistics & Multidisciplinary Coordination: Oversee contractor management regarding site logistics, labour allocation, and multidisciplinary delivery tracking across allocated work packages.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications & Education

Degree: Relevant Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Safety Accreditation: NEBOSH, SMSTS, or IOSH qualification holder.

Requirements & Experience

Major Project Track Record: Substantial experience managing site construction delivery on complex, large-scale infrastructure or major civil engineering projects.

Strategic Planning: Proven expertise in strategic site set-up, construction sequencing, resource allocation, and schedule recovery planning.

Commercial Acumen: Strong working knowledge of commercial principles impacting site construction and contractor management.

Regulatory Understanding: Expert working knowledge of CDM Regulations and site safety governance frameworks.

Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage multiple Tier 1 contractor interfaces and internal leadership under high-pressure conditions
