The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Concrete Finisher looking for long-term work on major commercial, industrial, or infrastructure developments in Tyneside?

Search Consultancy is recruiting skilled Concreters / Concrete Finishers for high-volume, fast-paced projects based in Newcastle upon Tyne. We are seeking trade professionals who understand concrete behavior, pour logistics, and high-spec surface finishing across large slabs, foundations, and structural elements.

If you hold a valid CSCS card, have a strong background in pour preparation, placement, and power floating, and want reliable weekly work with an established regional contractor, we want to hear from you.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Working directly alongside civil engineers, shuttering joiners, and groundworks gangs, you will be responsible for the placement and high-grade finishing of poured concrete:

Pour Placement & Spreading: Receiving, placing, and raking ready-mix concrete into place across ground slabs, retaining walls, suspended decks, footings, and external aprons.

Compaction & Levelling: Operating poker vibrators, screed rails, and tamping beams to compact concrete, eliminate air voids, and strike off strictly to finished floor levels.

Surface Finishing: Executing hand troweling, bull floating, brush finishing, and operating power floats (pan and blades) to produce smooth, hard-wearing, level slab surfaces.

Curing & Jointing: Applying liquid curing membranes, frost blankets, and cutting expansion/contraction control joints to drawing specifications post-pour.

Site Hygiene & Tool Care: Keeping pour areas tidy, washing down pumps, skips, and finishing equipment thoroughly after each pour, and adhering to strict site safety rules.

What We're Looking For

To satisfy site entry and safety regulations, applicants must possess:

CSCS Card: A valid Blue (Skilled Worker) or Gold (Advanced Craft / NVQ in Concrete Operations or Construction Occupations) CSCS card is strictly mandatory.

Experience: Proven, hands-on background in concrete placing, tamping, hand finishing, and power float operations on commercial or civil sites.

Tools & PPE: Full professional hand tools (finishing trowels, floats, rakes, boots) and standard 5-point PPE (including waterproof gear for pours).

Reliability & Flexibility: The willingness to work flexibly to complete pours safely around curing times and delivery schedules.

Right to Work: Valid proof of right to work in the UK.
