We are delighted to be making an appointment for the position of Teacher of Computer Science for our high achieving, outstanding 11-18 academy in North Yorkshire. Our academy has the highest performing Post 16 centre in North Yorkshire and GCSE results are the highest for non-selective schools, an achievement we are incredibly proud of. We are judged as “Outstanding” by Ofsted as an aspirational and nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to excel. They also stated "This is a caring community where pupils and staff value and appreciate each other." We are regularly ranked in The Times top schools in the North. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner to join our Computing department which offers GCSE Computer Science following the OCR specification. A small department that was awarded the NCCE Computing Framework Quality mark in 2023, the department still has capacity for growth. We are proud of our key stage 3 offerings and currently run enrichment activities such as code club and Cyber Explorers. Code club is also used by GCSE students to stretch their knowledge of programming in preparation for their exams. We also have a close working relationship with the NCCE who offer CPD opportunities and support for growing this amazing subject.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Promoting the achievement of high standards through effective teaching and learning within the subject area, preparation, evaluation and action planning.
Supervision and progress of students in allocated classes.
Supervision of work of any classroom support staff within allocated classes.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:
You should possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference and have a firm love of your subject and a desire to support our young people to reach their full potential.
Ideally you will have a Computer Science degree; an ability to teach Maths is advantageous but not essential.
A Teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
