Description:
A local authority in the South West is looking for an experienced Community Safety Officer to lead its response to anti-social behaviour and community safety concerns. You'll manage a caseload, take formal enforcement action where it's needed, and work closely with police, housing providers and other partners to resolve problems.
The role involves site visits at least three days a week, so you'll need to live within a reasonable distance.
What you'll be doing
* Leading the response to ASB and community safety concerns, giving specialist advice, overseeing case management and coordinating operational work
* Responding to complaints and service requests about community safety, ASB and safeguarding
* Taking formal enforcement action, including Community Protection Warnings and Notices, ASB injunctions and Closure Orders
* Attending court for injunction applications and Closure Orders, and supporting housing association possession proceedings
* Giving advice and guidance to members of the public
* Taking part in community engagement events and multi-agency enforcement campaigns
* Working with police, housing associations, fire, health, social care and other local authorities
* Attending partnership meetings, such as police liaison meetings, Community Safety Partnership (CSP) groups, multi-agency case meetings and ASB Case Reviews
What we're looking for
* Community safety or ASB experience in a local authority or housing association
* Hands-on experience of CPWs/CPNs, injunctions and Closure Orders
* Experience of preparing cases for court and giving evidence
* Good working knowledge of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014
* Strong people skills and a practical, problem-solving approach
* Full driving licence and access to a car
