Community Outreach Workers - Pupil Referral Unit (Plymouth)

Teaching Personnel is seeking experienced community outreach workers for multiple positions at a Pupil Referral Unit based in Plymouth.

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Friday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
About the Role: The unit provides educational support to students dealing with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 basis in the community. These students, who have been referred to the unit and typically removed from mainstream schools, require additional support to continue their educational journey. The goal is to help them achieve GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, or to reintegrate them into mainstream education.

Responsibilities:

Support students in achieving both personal and educational goals.
Discuss post-education options with students.
Promote social and emotional awareness and independence.
Expectations:

Manage challenging behaviour proactively.
Report and record any safeguarding concerns or behavioural challenges.
Support students in building self-confidence.
Requirements:

Experience working in a PRU or young offenders' environment and supporting young people with challenging behaviours is essential.
Resilience and the ability to react positively and effectively to difficult behaviour.
Experience within a classroom setting.
Ability to build and maintain strong, professional relationships to ensure student progression.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
