Description:

What you need to know about the role

This is a unique opportunity to join our business and help shape the way we communicate with our people, our customers, the media, and the communities in which we operate.

You will be responsible for creating, designing, and publishing engaging content across all our channels – internally and externally. This includes our digital employee newspaper, website, crisis communications, video, social media, press releases, posters, and intranet. The successful candidate will also support internal events and site visits, create business presentations, and help the ongoing development and evolution of our communications.

Our Communications Lead will also play a significant role in protecting and enhancing our brand, and be an integral part of our crisis communications support team. You will also be required to use robust measurement systems to provide relevant feedback on the tools and channels you have responsibility for.

In the role you will need to develop strong relationships with site/plant/functional managers and other communications colleagues to facilitate the effective delivery of our communications strategy and key business messages. And you will need to develop your all-round communications skills along with those of your colleagues.

You will also lead the team in the absence of the Communications Manager where required.

What we need to know about you

We are looking for a talented and confident professional who can bring to the role a strong and relevant record in communications. Ideally, you will have at least 3 years’ experience in a senior/managerial communications role within a major organisation. Experience of the steel industry, or manufacturing, would be advantageous but is not essential.

You must be able to show evidence of developing and delivering proactive communications campaigns, have a strong news sense and an aptitude for accuracy and detail. The successful candidate will have impeccable design skills and be able to demonstrate experience of crisis communications and crisis management.

Experience of software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premier Pro would be advantageous and you should be proficient in PowerPoint and Excel. You should also have experience of creating video and publishing on website management systems and social media.

The ability to forge strong relationships with colleagues (including senior management), external agencies, customers, and suppliers is also vital.

What we can offer you
We know our employees are our greatest asset and alongside the great benefits packages we offer, we continue to invest in their careers by providing a huge range of training and development opportunities.

Whatever your stage in life, you'll find a range of benefits to complement your work-life balance. The benefits you'll enjoy include:

* Defined contribution company pension scheme

* 35 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

* Life Assurance

* A comprehensive Company sick pay scheme

* Health Cash Plan via our partnership with Simplyhealth

* Employee Assistance Programme

* Standby and call-out payments
