Job Purpose As a Network Communications Business Partner, you will operate at the heart of the organisation, bringing to life and protecting the Cadent brand.

An important part of your role will involve building and maintaining positive working relationships with key regional and trade, journalists. You will also be regularly liaising with the media teams of regional and some national stakeholders, in order to help drive and protect the reputation of Cadent, while seeking proactive media opportunities to increase knowledge and understanding of the business. You will be delivering a dedicated service to the North London Network; Translating its strategy into clear comms objectives that are aligned to the future needs of the business, enabling the team to achieve important strategic goals.

One day might involve creating exciting comms to showcase engineering innovation at a key London landmark, another might see you working with a local council to manage awareness about important repair work to keep our customers informed. You may also find yourself visiting one of our many social impact projects to support with amplification, or celebrating colleague volunteering or award success with video creation and story telling on our company-wide social network. Key Responsibilities Cadent’s North London network has around 1,250 colleagues, responsible for keeping the gas flowing for millions of homes and businesses across a large proportion of the capital. You will have a focus on media relations and will be responsible for delivering a communications approach that encompasses both internal and external activity, including driving on-going media visibility and managing issues/crisis response, positively raising the profile of the North London Network.

Your comms activity will also support in connecting our colleagues to each other, our vision and strategic priorities. This will include some working with our contract partners. Working closely with the network director and their leadership team, you will ultimately be responsible for driving the overall reputation of the network, creating engaging messaging and activity across proactive PR, colleague communication and network events.

Build relationships and influence on our strategy, priorities, values and direction with the confidence to constructively challenge, influence and guide communications decisions.
Play a critical role in positively building our brand internally and externally, actively leading on shaping the reputation of the organisation.
Deliver creative and on message communications materials, including website, intranet, print, film, digital and social media content
Work on an ‘on call’ rota, one week at a time, shared between the team throughout the year. Skills and Experience
Educated to degree level or an industry equivalent recognised qualification, with in-depth experience within business communication management.
Industry recognised professional qualification/membership – Chartered Institute of Public Relations or the willingness to work towards this.
Creative and innovative and demonstrates the ability to adapt the content and style of communication messages to appeal to their audience, with the right messages to influence and generate business results.
Inspirational and influential leadership skills – for stakeholders, peers / virtual teams – and able to work effectively as part of a team, building and maintaining strong working relationships with others at all levels.
Knowledge of media relations best-practice and related communications activities, including working knowledge of corporate public relations, crisis communications and issues management.
Ability to write for a range of communication channels, flexing tone and style to suit the message and the audience group
