Communications Assistant Welsh Speaking

Swansea

Temp 9 Month Contract

This is not just a job but an opportunity to be part of an organisation providing a valuable service to communities across Wales. We are looking for an experienced Welsh Speaking Communications Assistant to join this busy organisation. As part of a three-year strategy they have placed a strong emphasis on increasing the organisations visibility to the Welsh public, making your ability to communicate in Welsh critical to this position.

The Role

This position is a 9 month contract to cover maternity leave. You will work a 35 hour week, Monday - Friday with some Hybrid work on offer. Duties will include:

* Provide a wide range of administrative support across the whole organisation on specific project work, including attending meetings, taking meeting notes, following up action points, data input, filing, and photocopying, shredding and setting agenda items.

* Research and draft content in English and Welsh for PowerPoint presentations, press releases, statements, briefing documents and other copy as appropriate for distribution to targeted media and other stakeholders.

* Assist in monitoring social media platforms and news feed to identify breaking stories relevant to the organisation

* Maintain good connections with key partners through a variety of communications channels.

* Support the department in maintaining social media presence and our website content.

* Respond sensitively to telephone enquiries, taking messages, relaying messages and regularly checking the answerphone for messages.

* Assist with the maintenance of the organisation’s bank of images, to use in our reports and online.

* Assist with the production of the organisation’s reports by liaising with external design and print agencies and proof reading in English and Welsh.

* Assisting colleagues by providing occasional cover for duties as necessary.

* Undertake any other duties within the remit as required

Requirements

The successful applicant will have the following experience, qualifications and attributes:

* Ability to communicate confidently both verbally and in writing in Welsh and English is essential

* Communications or marketing qualification preferred

* Previous experience in the communication area of marketing is essential

* Accurate proof reading and translation skills in Welsh and English

* Ability to create content, digital content and short videos

* Highly competent ITC skills including excel, Powerpoint, Word and WordPress

* Ability to use a range of digital communication tools, including social media platforms and video-editing software

* The ability to deliver tasks with a strong focus on customer care

* Ability to work with minimal supervision.

* Ability to respond politely and calmly to complex calls and deal with callers sympathetically

* Well organised, able to forward plan and meet deadlines

* A proven team player who can also work well independently

* Strong customer service skills

* Happy to travel across Wales occasionally as required

This is a Swansea based position to cover maternity leave for a minimum 9 month period. It offers a good salary for a 35 hour week. The role will be mainly office based but some working from home will also be an option.
