Typically, this person will be responsible for procuring raw materials, goods, or services that are essential for an organization's operations. Duties and responsibilities of the Commodity Buyer:
Requirements:
* Develop and maintain commodity strategies, ensuring the company is kept up to date on marketplace commercial and technical developments
* Evaluate cost data and quotation analysis forms and identify any cost saving opportunities.
* Understand and apply tools and techniques to close cost gaps and achieve value, whilst maintaining the supplier relationships
* Manage supplier performance through the whole process, to ensure quality, cost and delivery performance are kept at high levels.
* Provide procurement/commercial input into cross-functional teams
* Strive for process improvement internally, as well as the supply base, focusing on the business 'best Practise'
* Able to identify supplier risk and develop robust risk mitigation strategies
* Support, lead and promote good supplier relationships
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
Qualifications and requirement for the Commodity Buyer:
* Assertive, optimistic, and welcomes change
* CIPS qualified
* Experienced in using ERP/MRP systems (Syteline/INFOR preferred)
* 2+ years experience working as a buyer in a manufacturing environment
* Excel - intermediate level, with the ability to analyse data
