Commissioning Manager / Pharma / North East / Outside IR35 / Long Term

We are seeking an experienced GMP HVAC / BMS Commissioning Manager to support pharmaceutical projects involving controlled environments, cleanrooms and GMP-regulated facilities.

This is a key role responsible for leading and coordinating HVAC and Building Management System (BMS) commissioning activities, ensuring systems are installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and relevant industry standards.

Working closely with project management, engineering, construction, quality and validation teams, you will oversee commissioning delivery from planning and system readiness through to testing, documentation, handover and final acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and coordinate HVAC and BMS commissioning activities across pharmaceutical and GMP-regulated projects.

* Develop and manage commissioning strategies, plans, programmes, procedures and test documentation.

* Oversee commissioning of HVAC systems serving cleanrooms and controlled environments, including air handling units, filtration systems, air change rates, temperature, humidity and room pressure differentials.

* Manage BMS commissioning, including control strategies, sequences of operation, alarms, interlocks, instrumentation, monitoring points and system integration.

* Ensure HVAC and BMS systems perform in accordance with design intent, User Requirements Specifications (URS), functional specifications and project acceptance criteria.

* Coordinate commissioning interfaces with cleanroom systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS) and other relevant building services.

* Work closely with CQV (Commissioning, Qualification and Validation) teams to ensure commissioning activities support equipment and system qualification.

* Ensure commissioning evidence, test results, system records, deviations and handover documentation are complete, accurate and audit-ready.

* Identify, investigate and resolve commissioning issues, technical defects and system performance deviations.

* Coordinate subcontractors, specialist vendors, engineers and client representatives to maintain commissioning progress and quality.

* Monitor commissioning schedules, system readiness, outstanding actions and project milestones.

* Support client acceptance, operational handover and the transition into qualification and validation activities.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a technically strong commissioning professional who can take ownership of HVAC and BMS commissioning within complex pharmaceutical projects. You will understand the importance of maintaining environmental control, demonstrating documented system performance and ensuring commissioning activities align with GMP expectations and the wider qualification programme.

You will be comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders, resolving technical challenges and driving commissioning activities through to successful handover
