Commissioning Manager – West London – 10 Months

Location:          West London

Duration:          10 months, with the possibility of extension

Sector:              High-End Residential / Building Services

Contractor:       Tier 1 MEP Contractor

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join a leading Tier 1 MEP contractor on a prestigious residential development in West London on a freelance basis for 10 months, with the potential for an extension subject to project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery and commissioning of complex mechanical and electrical building services within a high-quality residential project. The initial contract is for 10 months, with the potential for an extension subject to project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all commissioning activities across the mechanical and electrical building services installation.

Develop, implement and manage commissioning programmes in line with the overall project schedule.

Coordinate commissioning activities with project management, site teams, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives.

Ensure all MEP systems are commissioned, tested and handed over in accordance with project specifications, design requirements and relevant industry standards.

Monitor progress against commissioning milestones, identifying and resolving issues to maintain programme targets.

Oversee commissioning documentation, test results, quality records and handover information.

Manage commissioning subcontractors and specialist vendors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

Attend project meetings, provide progress updates and report on commissioning status, risks and outstanding actions.

Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, quality procedures and project-specific commissioning protocols.

Support the successful completion, witnessing and final handover of all building services systems.

Requirements

Proven experience in a Commissioning Manager or Senior Commissioning role within the MEP or building services sector.

Experience working for a Tier 1 MEP contractor or on large-scale, complex construction projects.

Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services systems.

Previous experience delivering commissioning activities on high-end residential, mixed-use or similarly prestigious developments would be advantageous.

Demonstrable experience managing commissioning programmes, specialist subcontractors and multiple project stakeholders.

Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive progress on a busy construction site.

A proactive approach to problem-solving, quality assurance and programme delivery.

Relevant commissioning, building services or engineering qualifications are desirable.
