Lead Commissioning Engineer (MV/LV)

Major Industrial Manufacturing Project | North Wales

Location: North Wales
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 months

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Commissioning Engineer to join a major industrial manufacturing and power infrastructure project in North Wales.

This is a key position within the commissioning team, requiring a hands-on engineer capable of managing and coordinating the overall MV and LV commissioning scope while working closely with the client, principal contractor, and project stakeholders on site.

The project involves significant electrical infrastructure upgrades supporting a large-scale manufacturing facility, including MV switchgear, protection systems, energisation activities, industrial drives, and integrated commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Medium Voltage (MV)

* Lead and manage MV energisation and commissioning activities.

* Commission and test protection and control systems.

* Carry out relay testing using industry-standard testing equipment.

* Verify electrical and mechanical interlocking systems.

* Conduct post-energisation testing and system validation.

* Coordinate commissioning activities with client and project teams.

* Support the development and execution of commissioning procedures and test plans.

Low Voltage (LV)

* Commission industrial motor control and drive systems.

* Perform functional testing, fault finding, and performance validation.

* Support integrated system testing and operational readiness activities.

* Ensure all commissioning documentation is completed to project standards.

* Support system handover and client acceptance processes.

Requirements

* Proven experience commissioning MV and LV electrical systems.

* Strong background in protection and control commissioning.

* Experience with MV switchgear energisation and testing.

* Competent using relay testing equipment.

* Experience commissioning industrial drive systems.

* Strong understanding of electrical protection philosophies and interlocking schemes.

* Previous experience working on large industrial, manufacturing, power, utilities, energy, or mission-critical projects.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

* Ability to lead commissioning activities whilst remaining technically hands-on.
